About the Job
The jobholder will be responsible for overseeing all general ledger transactions including month-end close activities, maintaining supporting documents related to BS reconciliations overseeing the BS reconciliations process, and managing the offshore team while ensuring full compliance with accounting principles adopted in the company.
Job Requirements:
- General Ledger and Month-End.
- Follow the month-end procedures and ensure timely and accurate closure of the general ledger.
- Ensure that the GL balances reported are aligned with supporting documentation (front-end systems, data provided by other functions).
- Maintain the month-end manual adjustments register related to underwriting (Life and Non-Life)
- Maintain Fixed Assets, Prepayments, Accruals registers etc.
- Ensure Compliance with accounting policies adopted in the company.
- Ensure strict internal controls within group accounting systems and transactions General Ledger and month-end.
- Ensure that the GL balances reported are aligned with the supporting documentation (frontend systems, data provided by other functions).
- Ensure strict internal controls within group accounting.
- Support the Regulatory reporting team during audits to provide the necessary data/Information from GL.
- Support External and Internal Audits.
- Supporting specific financial projects related to controllership function.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, Internal controls, Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Education, Experience, and Formal/Professional Qualifications
- CIMA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification (Full or Part qualification)
- 2- 4 years experience in a similar role in the Insurance Industry (Mandatory)
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles
- Experience in working on IFRS17 implementation is an advantage
- Experience in Working on Oracle Finance is an advantage
